Aldi strikes a deal with The National Lottery to sell tickets
From April this year, you will be able to buy your National Lottery tickets from the 900 Aldi stores in the UK. This is after the announcement was made that Camelot will be working with Aldi to enable customers to purchase tickets.
National Lottery Games
The National Lottery provides a whole host of games, some of which give players the opportunity to win life-changing amounts of money. There has already been a trial with Lottery products available in some Aldi stores in the North of England. Aldi customers will now be able to buy lotto, Hot Picks, Set For Life, Euromillions and Thunderball tickets from April this year, with every Aldi store having lottery terminals by June 2021. Hopefully, some more millionaires will be made.
Richard Thronton, Communications Director for Aldi, said “We hope to hand out some winning numbers to lucky customers across the country”
Jenny Blogg, the Retail Director for Camelot also commented that Camelot was ‘delighted’ to be working with Aldi and getting the terminals in and allowing customers to purchase lottery products, was a priority for them.
Good Causes and Age Limit increases
With Aldi customers being able to purchase lottery tickets, they too will be contributing to all the good causes the National Lottery supports, with approximately £30 million being donated to local community good causes alone. In the last 12 months, funds have also been used to help provide support to young vulnerable people and the elderly, to help alleviate isolation and loneliness during the COVID pandemic.
Also, from April this year, the minimum age limit for purchasing lottery tickets, will increase from 16 to 18 years old. This has been something that campaigners have been wanting for some time in order to reduce the risk of gambling related harm to much younger players.
