32Red Sponsorship Deal Ruffles Leeds United Fans Feathers
Published on by Becky Mosley
Leeds United has certainly had a rough time on the pitch as of late, with the club experiencing an ownership saga that shows no signs of slowing down. Looking for a reprieve, it looked like the club was going to be able to seek solace in a brand new sponsorship deal, which would see Leeds United receive a fresh injection of funds. However, it seems that the new deal with 32Red has not gone down well with fans of the club, as many have bemoaned the colour of the logo and its links to rival club Manchester United.
Dislike ‘Red’
Taking to Twitter, fans of Leeds United have bemoaned the deal and the dislike over the word “Red” being featured on team’s shirt. Looking at what has been said, it’s pretty clear that social media has not been kind to the club off the back of the announcement:@Henry_Broadbelt – “Ain’t wearing no Leeds shirt with bloody 32Red on it, I swear the clubs taking the piss…. could’ve chose any other sponsor ffs #lufc”@LUFCLDP1989 – “@32Red_Casino would you consider changing your name to 32 white for the leeds sponsorship???”@TheMadLeedsFan – “@LUFC @32Red_Casino no shirt for me next season then. Does someone not know the link between Leeds United and the colour red?”
32Red To Blue
The reaction to the new deal has hardly been joyous, so Leeds United has made the call to switch the 32Red logo to blue. Paul Bell (Leeds United Executive Director), speaking on how he believes the arrangement with 32Red will help the club progress, said “We are delighted to have signed a three-year shirt deal with 32Red PLC, the UK’s premier online casino entertainment brand. We are hugely excited by the partnership and the opportunities it will deliver for all involved. 32Red has a history of successful sponsorship with other high-profile football teams and we are pleased to have them in our commercial partner program. There are a forward-thinking, modern brand and we are looking forward to building a strong and lucrative partnership with them both on and off the field as we look to return to the Premier League”.
