Top Movie Themed Slots

The best slots are often those based on something we all know, sometimes this is mythology (Greek and Egyptian myths and legends are especially popular), or fairytales, but, more often than not, these games come in the shape of slots based on well-known, and often much-loved movies.

The likes of Playtech, IGT, and Microgaming are arguably the top dogs when it comes to producing slots based on popular movies, but most software developers have had a go at some point.

The Old Guard

2017 may have been a strong year for movie based slot games, but they are far from a new thing, in fact, several movie-themed video slots have been amongst the titles dominating the market for some time now.

Bridesmaids

This is possibly the most unlikely success story that will appear on this list. The 2011 movie itself, about bridesmaids preparing for the wedding of a friend, was fairly successful, but nothing that suggested how huge the Microgaming slot would become.

With five reels, 40 paylines, and a very pink colour scheme, Bridesmaids is a surprisingly brilliant game, and a must play for “Chick Flick” fans.

Superman: The Movie

Playtech may have lost the rights to the Marvel franchise a while back, but they still see themselves as the leaders of the pack when it comes to slots based on superhero movies, and Superman: The Movie, ad its sequel, Superman II, do an excellent job of proving this with their exciting gameplay, stunning graphics and animations, and loyalty to the source material.

Ghostbusters

If you want to know what IGT can do to bring a movie to life in slot form, look no further than Ghostbusters, a game that is as fan, and as ridiculous, as the legendary movie starring Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, and Sigourney Weaver.

The original soundtrack and images and footage from the movie make this about as immersive as any movie slot can be, and various wild symbols, bonus rounds, and a free spins feature can lead to some great wins too.

The Mummy

Playtech again here, this time with a slot game based on the original Mummy franchise of films starring Rachel Weisz, Brendan Frasier, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and more.

Another amazing looking slot, but it’s the gameplay that really sets this one apart. Psycho

Proving other developers can do it too, NextGen’s Psycho slot is a chilling, yet charming tribute to Hitchcock’s classic movie.

The New Breed

The classics are still making an impact, but in 2017, a few new names joined the party, and some of them are truly epic!

Justice League

This game was released on the same day as the movie on which it is based, and arguably received a better reception!

Halloween

Microgaming have never been scared to take on some of the most popular and epic franchises of all time, and when it comes to horror movies, they don’t come much more popular and epic than Halloween.

Released in August last year, but unsurprisingly finding additional success towards the end of October, Halloween is set on the infamous porch, which moves to change the payline structure and accommodate giant 4x3 character symbols.

Highlander

Another new Microgaming slot based on a classic movie, the nostalgia overload started with Halloween carries right on with Highlander, based on the classic story of Connor MacLeod, and the movie that starred Sean Connery amongst others.
