Firepay was a popular payment method that earned a great reputation with online gamblers thanks to its no-hassle approach and its ease of use. In late December 2007 it was announced that Firepay was folding. The service announced it was going to accept no more deposits, nor would it let anyone make transfers; all 1.5 million account holders had a period of 150 days to withdraw their money from their accounts free of charge.

Firepay enabled anyone who as a US bank account to make online transactions. This payment method worked in a similar way to a debit card in that you had to make a cash deposit to activate your account. Once you’d made a cash deposit, you could then start using your Firepay account to make online payments. There were no fees for signing up to Firepay.

Having a Firepay account enabled you to pay for goods and services online; you could also receive payments and make transfers between your bank account and other bank accounts. The service did have fees for transferring funds from one account to another; the fees did vary depending on the transaction itself and the amount of money being transferred. There were also fees for using some other services; for example, there were fees for changing the currency of your money and there were fees if you went 150 days without depositing any money into your Firepay account.
