Overview of Bet365 Group

Bet365 continues to invest heavily in expanding its market presence, particularly in the US and other regulated markets. The company's long-term, patient and sensible approach to market entry contrasts with competitors who have faced substantial cash outflows. Bet365’s strategy focuses on product quality and innovation, aiming to leverage its comprehensive betting and gaming platform to attract and retain customers.

Denise Coates, the founder, remains a pivotal figure in the company, serving as joint-chief executive alongside her brother John Coates. Denise has received significant remuneration, reflecting her pivotal role in the company’s growth but also attracting criticism during years of financial losses.

Bet365 has become a major player in the global online gambling market through strategic investments, partnerships, and a strong focus on product innovation. Despite facing financial challenges and increased competition, the company's robust growth in customer base and revenue from gaming operations positions it well for further future expansion.

Bet365 Bounces Back to Profit in 2023-24

January 2025 – Bet365 has returned to profitability, reporting a strong performance for the financial year ending 31 March 2024. The company credited product improvements and US expansion for the boost.

Group revenue hit £3.72 billion, up 9% from £3.41 billion in the previous year, while betting and gaming revenue matched that growth at £3.7 billion. Profit before tax for the betting and gaming segment reached £626.6 million, although its Stoke City FC business reported a £30.3 million loss.

Gaming remained steady, with a focus on personalised offerings, including an updated recommendation engine and expanded live casino products. The launch of a second exclusive live game show and the first free-to-play game added fresh variety for players.

Bet365 also donated £127 million to charity, with £120 million going to the Denise Coates Foundation. Gross profit rose to £3.03 billion, and operating profit came in at £396.6 million, a sharp turnaround from last year’s £37.3 million loss.

The filing noted Stoke City FC's demerger, finalised in July 2024, with estimated costs of £118 million. The club is now controlled by director John Coates.
