Added to the market in September, Book of Sun is one of a few slots that Booongo have introduced to the iGaming world at the end of 2018.
While Booongo are capable of releasing excellent slot games, there is always some concern when a developer released a title based on Ancient Egypt, because we have seen so many of them by this point that it’s almost impossible to bring anything new or exciting to the concept.
About the slot
With five reels and 10 paylines, Book of Sun is payable from 10p to £50 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
While Ancient Egypt guarantees some striking imagery as a theme, there is nothing present here that we haven’t seen before.
The slot looks great, sure, but it looks great in the same way that multiple other similar slots have before it, taking some of the shine off the otherwise attractive design work.
The slot is not dissimilar to two similarly named slots, Book of Ra from Novomatic, and Book of Dead from Play’n G, which, again, takes away any sense of originality.
This is a good looking slot, but it needed to be much more than that.
Gameplay
The wild symbol will substitute for all regular symbols, and will also pay out a tidy 5,000x your stake if you land five on a payline, making it worth looking out for.
Three or more scatters will win you up to 10 free spins (for five symbols) with wilds appearing stacked throughout, this feature can also be retriggered.
Fill the screen with stacked wilds here and you’ll land yourself the games big jackpot of £250,000, which certainly grabs the attention.
Aesthetically, there may not be anything great here, but the gameplay more than makes up for that!
