Head back to ancient Rome with Augustus, the brand new slot for November 2020 from Neon Valley. Neon Valley have partnered with Microgaming to bring you this medium variance video slot, with wagering from 20p to £100 and an RTP of 96.14%. Features include wilds, scatters and free spins.
Augustus Design
The Augustus slot is based on the very first Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus. In the background is the imposing and impressive Roman architecture, with the huge columns of buildings and the crisp blue sky above.
The reels are set on banners within columns and the symbols include J to A Royals, Augustus, coins and Roman shields.
Gameplay and features
There are coin meters above the reels and every time you land a coin symbol, these are collected in the meters. Get 2 coins to fill the first reel’s meter and this now turns to a wild reel for 2 more spins.
The Roman shield is the scatter symbols and when you land 3 during a spin on reels 1, 3 and 5, this gives you a x2 scatter win. The bonus round is then triggered and now you get to choose your free spin feature. These are either 2 free spins with 3 wilds on a spin, 8 free spins with 2 wilds on a spin or 25 free spins with 1 wild on a spin.
Verdict
If you’ve played Age of Conquest (also from Neon Valley), then Augustus is very similar, even down to the same maths model. So you can take that as both a good or bad thing. Age of Conquest is extremely popular with players so it’s easy to see why Neon Valley went for the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach here.
There are plenty of regular wins and the wild reels feature is an exciting addition. It is slightly disappointing that the maximum win is just x1000 which is a little on the low side for a medium variance game.
