MaxEnt operating licence revoked
The Gambling Commission has announced that they are revoking the UK licence of Malta based MaxEnt due to a change of ownership.
MaxEnt had acquired the company which was previously known as NNR Entertainment in May 2018. They already operate the Betat and Slotty Vegas brands
The Gambling Commission has concerns on the said purchase, and where the funds have come from to go ahead with the purchase.
The decision to revoke the UK licence will come into effect from June the 18th, which will give them time to inform all of their customers of what is happening.
The Commission said it was not satisfied that it would have granted the operating licence if they had known that MaxEnt was taking over control of NNR Entertainment.
“[The] Commission also identified concerns relating to the new controller’s suitability, in that it appeared that he had provided conflicting information and had failed to be full and frank in his dealings with the Commission,” the regulator said.
Prior to the deal, Slotty Vegas were in dispute with Advertising Standards Authority in 2018, for misleading online promotion which claimed “our games pay more,” the ASA ruled that the advertisement must not be shown in its’ current form again
MaxEnt have issued the following statement on their website:
As of the 4th June 2019 the UK Gambling Commission made public their intent to revoke Max Entertainment’s licence to offer online gambling in the United Kingdom. Max Entertainment are in the process of lodging an appeal against this revocation, as permitted by the Commission. The deadline for submission of an appeal is 18th June 2019. UKGC had an option to revoke the licence with immediate effect but have granted right of appeal.
