Mr Green bans advertising in the UK

Mr Green have made the sudden announcement to affiliates this week, that they are to cease advertising to UK players with immediate effect.

Removal of all marketing materials

Casino affiliates received notification earlier this week, that all advertising of either its online casino or live casino, must cease. Affiliates were told to remove all banners, pop-ups, text links, social media posts and any other marketing materials, straight away. The reason given for this sudden move was ‘recent changes in compliance’. Although any online casino or live casino advertising must cease, Mr Green have said that the promotion of Mr Green Sportsbook can continue and even the use of sportsbook marketing materials can be used as a substitute for casino marketing materials.

Mr Green stated: “We have replaced all casino and live casino banners with sportsbook banners. We kindly ask that if you see any banners of these kinds still on your site, that you let your account manager know. We are working hard to resolve this issue and will be sure to let you know once you are able to promote Mr Green casino and live casino again.”

Other big names have ceased UK advertising

Mr Green has been one of the most recognisable online casino brands since its launch, with its iconic, suave Mr Green mascot, giving players a sophisticated and classy gaming experience. It was purchased by gaming giants William Hill back in 2018 as part of a £242million deal.

Mr Green isn’t the only popular name to cease UK advertising. The owners of Royal Panda (LeoVegas) previously announced that the brand would no longer be available for UK players, and several other smaller brands have withdrawn from the UK market altogether.

The recent changes in UK regulation have seen operators having to make big changes in terms of imagery used and transparency of terms and conditions. This is in order to ensure players are clear about terms of use and young or vulnerable players are better protected from gambling related harm.
