Microgaming Recruits Stephen Fisk as new CEO
Microgaming, a renowned name in the online gaming industry, is undergoing a significant transformation under the guidance of its new CEO, Stephen Fisk. Following the sale of its aggregation platform, Quickfire, to Games Global, the company is refocusing its efforts on its core platform business, which was its primary strength during its early days.
Substantial Change
In recent years, Microgaming has witnessed substantial changes. The closure of the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) in 2020 marked a significant shift for the company. This was followed by the sale of Quickfire, which was a central part of Microgaming’s PR strategy, emphasizing slots and casino games. However, Stephen Fisk clarifies that this move is not a deviation but rather a return to the company’s original strengths. He recalls, “Microgaming started as a full platform provider, offering a number of services beyond game and content provisions.”
Quickfire has supplied over 900 brands, and while Microgaming’s platform technology will continue to support these brands as a supplier to Games Global, the company’s focus will now be on a select group of core partners, including Betway.
Familiar Territory
Stephen Fisk, who took over as CEO in May, has a rich history in the gaming industry, with over two decades of experience. Before joining Microgaming, he was part of the Rational Group, where he played a pivotal role in expanding PokerStars into the realm of sports betting. Fisk emphasizes the importance of communication in driving change and aligning teams towards common goals.
Microgaming’s future seems promising, with sports betting expected to play an increasingly significant role. The company’s relationship with Betway is a testament to its capabilities in this domain. Fisk envisions a bespoke approach, tailoring products and solutions to meet the unique needs of their partners.

The company is also keeping a close watch on emerging markets and regulatory changes. Ontario’s recent moves towards regulation are seen as a positive sign for the industry. Microgaming’s commitment to responsible gaming is evident in its support for initiatives like GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline and its involvement in local programs on the Isle of Man.
As Microgaming embarks on this new chapter, it seeks to leverage its rich heritage and reputation built over nearly three decades.
