Bookmakers Predict a Bummer Year of Accumulator Bets at Royal Ascot 2022
Royal Ascot the British flat horse racing favourite is expected to see an ‘avalanche of accumulator bets’ according to Business Day.
After a year of no spectators in 2020, then a limited crowd in 2021, huge crowds are expected to flood the horse racing event beginning Tuesday the 14th of June until Saturday the 18th.
William Haggas’s Baaeed
All eyes will be on William Haggas’s Baaeed, a 2-7 favourite to win the Queen Anne Stakes. His unbeaten record is on the line on the opening race at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, the three-year-old has dominated horse racing since 2021 and continued his success in May in the Group One Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
Others to look out for are Golden Pal trained by Wesley Ward, and Australia’s Nature Strip. Paddy Power said, “Baaeed, Coroebus, and Golden Pal will be popular on the day, with punters throwing in Blackbeard. We’ll see plenty of accumulators with these three and whatever Frankie Dettori is riding on day one. It will give the odds boffins real headaches.”
Nature Strip
Despite Paddy Powers’ predictions, Australian jockey Glenn Boss, three times Melbourne Cup winner predicts Nature Strip is a hard contender against his rivals, he said, “Nature Strip’s best is too good. It’s as simple as that. He has been the most dominant world-class sprinter for the past two years and we have the best sprinters in the world.
“He will be very strong at the end of the race up the hill. I reckon he’s a great seven-furlong horse so that will suit him right down to the ground.”
