NetEnt Sign Agreement for Planet of the Apes Slots
NetEnt spent 2016 cementing their place at the top of the software developing world, and while a large part of this was down to the huge number of excellent video slots the company released last year, there was also a lot of work behind the scenes.
It is already apparent that NetEnt are looking to go even bigger in 2017, and this has become even more clear with the announcement that NetEnt has inked a deal with 20th century Fox Consumer Products to gain the exclusive license to the Planet of the Apes film franchise for NetEnt’s Planet of the Apes slot.
The deal
The agreement covers 50 years of film history as it covers the entire history of the Planet of the Apes franchise. The heritage makes it somewhat of a surprise that NetEnt’s upcoming slot will be the first time that the franchise has been used for online gaming, but if anybody’s going to do it, it’s probably best that it’s NetEnt!
Due for release in the second half of 2017, Planet of the Apes is already creating a buzz.
Reactions
Speaking of the deal, NetEnt’ Chief Product officer, Simon Hammon, said:
“Planet of the Apes is one of the largest film franchises in the world never to have been applied to gaming before. With such a rich history, the brand resonates with everyone that has grown up with the films, and it will fit perfectly with NetEnt’s wide and divers player base. We are thrilled to have signed the franchise, and can’t wait to offer the game to players later in the year.”
It feels like it’s going to be a long wait until NetEnt’s Planet of the Apes slot is released, but it sounds like it’ll be well worth it!
