Gamblio Review

When it comes to the names behind online casino sites, ProgressPlay Limited might not be the first name that comes to mind for many, but they have been quietly producing excellent sites since 2012.

The likes of Hippozino, Schmitts Casino, and Spin Fiesta are proof not only of the quality, but also the variety available within the sites on this network.

In late 2016, another name was added to the ProgressPlay family. That name was Gamblio, which could be one of the best or one of the worst names ever created for a casino site, it’s genuinely hard to work out.

Licensed and regulated in both Malta and the United Kingdom, Gamblio automatically has a sense of trustworthiness to it, something that is aided by the reputation of the network behind it.

This is a good start for any casino trying to cut its teeth on the competitive iGaming market, but it takes a lot more than that to make a strong impact.

Gamblio needs to bring excellent content, a fresh and enticing style, top quality customer service, and much more if it’s going to stand out against the sea of rivals that exist. Is this something that this site is capable of? And can it further the growing reputation of the ProgressPlay network?

Design and theme

Gamblio has a simple design concept that is clearly intended to put the games on offer at the forefront, and succeeds in that target.

An evil-looking monkey in the green logo adds a certain level of eerie charm, but that’s about the extent of the original artwork here.

That isn’t a bad thing though, because the rest of the design work here (aside from a wallpaper style background lower down the homepage) is made up of images taken from popular games from the site.

At the time of writing these are very NetEnt heavy, with the banner across the top of the page scrolling between artwork from Gonzo’s Quest and Warlords: Crystals of Power, but NetEnt is not a bad software developer to focus on!

Past that, you have a basic green and white colour scheme, with thumbnails being the focal point of the middle of the homepage, again, allowing the artwork from the games to play the part of the design for the most part.

This is far from a complex design concept, but it is an aesthetically pleasing one, and lets you know instantly that there’s a decent selection of games on offer here, which is always a good thing.

Games

When an online casino opts to put the games front and centre of their design, they better be sure that the games available are strong enough in both quality and variety to back that up.

With titles from 1X2 Network, Blueprint Gaming, ELK Studios, Extreme Live Gaming, Gamevy, Microgaming, NetEnt, NextGen Gaming, NYX Gaming, and Thunderkick, Gamblio can back it up to an extent, but after a year in the industry, players may expect more.

That isn’t to say that the collection on offer here is bad, because it certainly isn’t, but when you put the choice available at Gamblio against many of the more high-profile, established sites, it loses out, and that could be a problem.

That being said, there’s enough to be getting on with here, with a selection of new and old video slots, as well as jackpot games, a selection of table and card games, live dealer games, and a few scratchcards to finish off the list.

Nothing to be sniffed at, certainly, but if it is to reach the next level, Gamblio is going to need to add a few more names
